Composition, Applications, and Development of Diamond Wire Saws
What is a Diamond Wire Saw?
Diamond wire saw initially was designed and manufactured for stone quarrying, used for extracting stone blocks and cutting stone.
How is the Diamond Wire Saw for Marble Quarrying Composed?
The diamond wire saw for marble quarrying is made by stringing a certain number of diamond beads proportionally on a multi-strand steel wire rope, and the adjacent beads are separated by spacer sleeves that provide a supporting and fixing role.
The steel wire rope is highly tensile, not easily broken, and its tensile value is increased by continuous coiling. The formed circular diamond beads on the outer side of the steel wire rope are fixed using materials like rubber, plastic, and springs. Ultimately, the diamond wire saws for marble quarrying is comprised of three parts as a whole: a flexible steel wire rope, diamond beads, and connecting materials (spring, rubber, etc.).
The flexible steel wire rope serves to connect and increase tensile force, the circular diamond beads on the wire rope take on the cutting and friction role during operation, and the springs and rubber provide reinforcement to prevent the diamond beads from loosening.
Application Fields and Future Prospects of Diamond Wire Saws
Diamond wire saws were originally designed and manufactured for stone quarrying, used for extracting stone blocks and cutting stone. The method involves drilling holes on the quarry face, threading the wire saw through the holes, securing both ends, and using power machinery to drive the wheels to cut the stone. Compared to blasting methods, it has advantages such as speed, orderly blocks, smooth surface without internal damage, and is especially suitable for aesthetically patterned natural stones.
After decades of application and development, the application scope of diamond wire saws has expanded to building demolition, large stone or concrete block division, shaped stone cutting, and even large steel cable cutting.
In recent years, diamond bead wire saws, with their short preparation time, flexible cutting, low noise, low dust, low pollution, and energy-saving features, have been successfully applied and promoted in large-scale building demolition projects, making them the preferred choice for "green" demolition tools in the 21st century.
The diamond bead wire saw technology is a relatively niche, high-tech technology. From its development and technical aspects, it is expected to develop towards smaller bead diameters, saving processing materials and energy. Diamond beads made with brazing processes will also become the mainstream in processing.
